A Complete Guide to Training Your Pokemon!

If you are reading this guide, then you either need help with IV training, EV training, Berries, Juices, or overall information about this topic. In this guide, I will go over all you will need to know about the process of training your Pokémon and the different methods you can use to get them battle ready.

The Basics

What is an IV?

An IV is an individual value, they are values that improve the stats of Pokémon based on their inherited strengths. The higher the IV level, the stronger the pokemon will be. You are able to increase your Pokémon's IV stats by using bottlecaps, there are two kinds of bottle caps. A Gold Bottlecap is an item that increases the stats of a maximum level Pokémon to act as if the pokemon has perfect IVs. When you right-click a maximum level Pokémon with this item, every stat (HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed) which does not already have a perfect IV will be increased. A silver Bottlecap is an item which will increase one stat only. Bottlecaps will only work on level 100 pokemon. You can also increase IVs by breeding, which will be covered in the Breeding Guide.

What is an EV?

An EV is the Pokémon's Effort Value. These Effort Values exist for the Pokémon's 6 stat values. In order to train Pokémon for their maximum battling potential, players are generally seen to train for 252 EVs in two desired stats, leaving six EVs extra. More advanced players may choose to distribute the available stat points differently, to allow for more specific capabilities in battle. There are two main ways to increase EVs, the first way being /warp EV and the second being Berry Juices.

Important Commands

/Warp EV - This command will teleport you to an area to train your EVs by defeating pokemon.

/IVs {Slot Number} - This command will show you the IV stats of your selected Pokémon.
/EVs {Slot Number} - This command will show you the EV stats of your selected Pokémon.
